I applied for the Target card in January and received the dreaded 7-10 day response letter. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I had been approved with a limit of $1000. In April, I received an automatic increase to $1500, and last month I was increased to $1900. Hang in there --- it will grow for you!

That's some nice growth!

My DCU is no longer my lowest limit card. 🤦♂️
Oh well, it’s an approval at least. I hope I can grow this to something usable pretty fast. $500 isn’t even worth going in the signature. 🤷♂️
Congrats. That should grow nicely. I have a pre-app for them, but i don't shop there much. Like you i am an Appaholic, so i really need to not app anything for awhile either
Cheers on the new "target" you hit ![]()

Thanks man.
Yeah I gotta stop. But at least my cards are getting use now. I have a $400 water heater repair that I have to pay for when the part gets here this week. 🤦♂️
I am sure the REDcard will grow. Once I get my balances paid off, I'll be comparison shopping Target and Amazon going forward.
Sareen,
When you apped to DCU, how many inquiries did you have? Did you have a preapproval or apply outright? Did you have to submit pay stubs?

@GuyatthebeachI had two Chex inquiries from Best Egg for a personal loan I took in 2017, 5 inquiries on EQ, and they had me submit my Social Security award letter for POI and my most recent bank statement showing the direct deposit. I didn't have any problems with address verification or any of that which is commonly reported with them and my membership savings, checking, and credit card were approved on the same phone call.
You can't get a preapproval without being a member AFAIK so it was just a cold app. I actually didn't expect to be approved -- it started off as an attempt to see if my EQ could be pulled. I was shocked when I got the approval lol.
does target ever graduate their credit cards into mc/visa? if they only gave me a few hundred bucks SL i wouldn't care, but they gave me $2000 and i can't imagine ever spending that much at target *in a year* ...

they do upgrade them to MasterCard. The limit needed to get the upgrade doesn't seem to be clear and they appear to do them in batches. It's not something that can be requested.
