Target Red Card and US Bank Cash+

Recently I was CLD by Target from 1500 to 500. I was slightly annoyed but not too bothered because I hardly use the account. My checking account with State Farm was recently acquired by US Bank and I couldn't help but pull the trigger. Ended up with an 18k approval immediately. I about fell out of my chair. My highest limit yet and ever.

has anyone else experienced a limit decline and then a surprising approval?
