KEEP IT ! I wish my cl was 2k, i only have a 1k cl.
Target is a great place to shop and if you use the red card online its free shipping.
I buy stuff there all the time.

Not necessarily.
When I applied for the Navy Federal Platinum card last month, they only approved me for a sl of $1,000...which, needless to say, i was not too pleased about. I promptly sent a secure message telling them to close it; and even though I incurred a hard pull, the account was never reported to the bureaus.
As an aside, since I don't apply for new cards often, this is currently the only inquiry I have on TU, so I suppose I can afford to be nonchalant about it.
This could be a YMMV scenario though... Maybe OP should call and try to find out.

IMHO you should hold on to it, use it, enjoy it, and look for your opportunity to upgrade... it will come.

Congrats on the approval. I have seen people get approved for less than 2k and have excellent credit. I used to work for them and not everyone get approved for the MC. I would use the card and see how it goes, then maybe they will upgrade the card in the future. Just because one has good credit does not means they will always be approved for what one wants or terms.
Congrats on the Target approval. I am not sure what you stand to gain by closing it, why not just work up the CL on it?

Congrats! Regardless of it not being the MC, it's still 5% off your tab, so might as well keep it and hop in line with the rest of us waiting it out for the upgrade.

Sorry about the low SL. But since you do a good amount of shopping there I would just keep it open. They may even give a CLI.
Yes, there have been a few recent approvals here for the MC version. This is a departure from what TD had been doing- i.e., issue the store only and then you hope it graduates to the MC.
It is great that some are successfully getting the MC version right away.
@MeN5, keep it and don't look back. CLIs are of a mystery. I do know that when your CL hits $4,000, then TD will issue you the MC version.
If you really want to feel 'bitter', then know that we have a MFer who is adding a $200,000 Lamborghini and a $300,000 Porsche to his Fleet of vehicles.
Congratulations on your Target Mastercard approval!!
