So my history on these boards is somewhat sparadic. I have not been active nearly as much. My story is about mistakes, finanical issues, and just silly mistakes I made. I burned Amex, Capital One, Discover about 4-5 years ago. It was a bumpy road. We all have those financial struggles and we just need to recover and learn from them. Anywho, I started to rebuild my credit by paying off those cards via them nasty debt collectors and one year ago started to apply for secured cards. I got in with Captial One (wow they have been very FORGIVING!) and Citi. A couple of months later I went with First Savings Credit Card and Merrick (First Savings has an annual fee and Merrick does not...it was the double your limit deal with no fees attached to it). The Credit Limits are in my signatures.
So now I felt I wanted to get some new cards (Black Friday and the Holidays around the corner) after a year of good behavior. To my surprised, I was approved for the Capital One Savor Card for $1,000, Amazon Store Credit Card for $2,050 and the Best Buy Store Card for $2,000! Yay! I am overjoyed and now I finally have reward cards...again! Now to garden and stay the course for another year. I really want to get back with Amex and get a Citi Double Cash Rewards card. ![]()
Fico scores were in the 650-670 range between the three credit agencies. Ulitization was at 30%. No late payments.

Congrats on the approval!!
Congrats for all 3.
Congrats!!!
Congrats! It sounds like you're making the right moves and the banks are noticing! I agree with your garden assessment. This time next year, you're gonna have a lot of growth if you stay the course!
Definitely congrats. I love ongoing success stories like yours. Definitely in around a year or so you should be able to get much more. BUT there is always a BUT when it comes to AMEX you will need to wait till it has been anywhere from 7 to 10 years before they would give you a chance again. The good part is you paid them all that you owe them so when that time comes it should go a long way towards them giving you another chance. Keep going it will happen just takes time.
