UPDATE APPROVED. 7-10 message + 2 week automated message

Has anybody had any personal experience from the EXACT combo of a 7-10 day instant message + 2 week phone automated message? Were the results good or bad?

Applied for the AARP card on 3/1.

Re: 7-10 message + 2 week automated message

The 2-week or 30-day automated message is typically a good sign unless during the course of the review process the message turns into 7-10 days.  At that point it could be a declined outcome or further verification.  So, if it turns into a 7-10 day message on the automated system, check your snail mail to see what you receive.  Typically, the 7-10 day message remains until the application purges from the system (or changes in status with the verification update)

What do you mean a 7-10 day instant message? The reason I ask is because I got an instant message of 7-10 days, but what it was saying was that if I am approved for the card I will receieve the card in 7 to 10 business days. When I checked the automated line I got the 30 day message.  I think there is another 7-10 day message that says you will be notified by mail of your application results within 7-10 days. The later is often a bad sign.

7-10 day instant message meaning the response right after you cluck submit on the CLI page. 2 week message when you call in on the automated line

That message is standard on the splash page OP.  You eventually get an email that says your application can take up to 30 days for processing.  You can always do a search on these forums for similar experiences since there is a wealth of information on this topic.  The automated system will provide a 30-day, 2 weeks, or 7-10 days message.  As mentioned upthread, if your 2-week message turns into a 7-10 day message, likely not a good outcome.  Just periodically check the status line for updates.

Re: 7-10 message + 2 week automated message

Well I apped for two chase cards the other day and one was in the morning and the other was in the evening. The morning one started out with a 30 days message and then after I apped for the second card it switched to the 7-10 days and the two app says 2 weeks.

I know people have said 7-10 days is bad but what could have changed to go from 3 days to 7-10 days? Should I just continue to sit still or give a call on Monday or Tuesday?

Just sit tight and wait it out.  No one here can tell you what Chase is doing with your applications.  Don't read too much into the message and just let the process take its course.  Now, if patience is not your best suit and you have the itch that you need to call them, by all mean you're welcome to do so.  Some folks fare better results if they let things process on their own.  If you get declined, it is what it is, but then you can determine if it merits a reconsideration afterwards.

I'd just wait and then if its a decline go ahead and call in to recon. No reason not to try to recon a denial. I used to call in right away with Chase, but times have changed and now the best policy seems to be sit tight unless you really need the card now for some reason. Eveeryone is free to do what they want, but the more eager someone appears the closer Chase may want to look to see why.
