US Bank Altitude Go Approval

After nearly a week of waiting to hear their decision I finally got approved for the US Bank Altitide Go card. Unfortunately it is now my 2nd lowest limit card though. Only $2k.

Datapoints:

  • Pulled EX for me - I'm in NY. EX FICO 8 score is 764. I'm unsure what my FICO 9 is.
  • I was at 0/12 and 4/24 for cards at the time of application - 5/24 if you count a line of credit with my credit union though
  • Average credit limit across all 7 cards I had at the time was $9k
  • Average age of credit was 1 yr 8 months and my oldest account is 2yr 4 months
  • Income is $50k

Anyone have tips on getting a credit limit increase on US Bank cards? $2k is enough for my dining spend but utilization will be rather high. I would rather get auto credit limit increases as I know they hard pull for credit limit requests. Glad I didn't get the $500 starting limit they like handing out though.

1. Congratulations on the approval.

2. Pay it down before the statement cuts, even making multiple payments during the month.

3. My suggestion is to wait 6 months before applying for a CLI, and no it's not necessarily a hard pull. It will probably be a soft pull.

Re: US Bank Altitude Go Approval

Congratulations on your approval! I was able to get a $5000 soft pull limit increase on my Cash Plus card after 6 months.  I was spending about $500 a month on it and paying it off before it reported at the end of each month. It had a starting limit of $8500. So it's possible a hard pull may not be necessary for you to get an increase in 6 months. Just keep your reports frozen if you want to be certain they don't hard pull you! Best wishes to you when you ask them!

@SouthJamaica  This is exactly what I did! My limit increase at 6 months on my Cash Plus was a soft pull!

So US Bank prefers frequent payments over once a month?
