It arrived 11/25/24 here. Finally. Had P2 call for a "replacement" card on 11/26... missing middle initial being the official reason, with Rush shipping for free due to being "Plus" Tier. If it comes with the same CVC and expiration date between both card copies, I will carry the first card around instead of AOD (using USBAR for digital wallet purchases already).
It's nice that they bump up the cashback % immediately based on your bank balance rather than making you wait for a 3 month average like BofA.
Finally got my card in the mail yesterday
So far, this FOTM has about 11-14 approvals. I would have guessed that there would be more than this after the first month.

I think the hassle of having to open the savings and checking and move a bunch of assets over from your current fi is what's keeping a lot of folks from applying.
without all that it's just another 2% card that happens to be black and fancy metal.

Yeppers this and along with seeing how it works for everyone else which seems painful so far w/regards to experience to get that 4%. Sounds like needs to be fairly hands off such as a S&P500 fund for me to feel remotely comfortable with it as their platform seems subpar w/regards to investments.

Yes there are the hoops to get > 2.0%
It hasnt been that bad. I currently am the 3% tier.
(This Smartly card is my vindicated version of the AOD that I got denied upon when this was FOTM.)

Have the AOD and my not CAT spending isn't huge as a single person so 3% is good enough for me but certainly can be argued for others that 2.5-4% is a good deal. I am so torn between cards right nowloll many I have I obviously don't need but Cash+ is big for me due to util/cell then trying to make place for AR competing withCSPP as both have their perks then Amex Amazon 5% gets 5001k month on it, etc. Decisions are going to have be be made on some AF cards although effective AF of AR is low and CSP AF is low but many low AF's all add up . I think many with AOD such as myself the 3% is enough of capped cat spending per month is another reason more aren't going for card is likely similarr boat to me somewhat as AOD covers enough? Then of course there are the rotating class of people that use 5% activate categories.. Also many such as myself have custom cash cards or multiple that get 5% without picking cats. One card such as this to rule them all though is a nice concept and will certainly keep my mind open to move 100k over to US Bank in the future.

Yah so if I had the AOD (even with the $1500 monthly cap,) I may not have gone for this Smartly.
However, knowing that $~ 9000 in non category would be coming up, I thought the 3% back on this would be pretty good. Whether to step up to the 4% is something to ruminate.
As a side bar, wondering if anyone knows if there is a clawback on the bonus % should the total combined assets drops below the defined thresholds???

Doubt there'd be a clawback, they'll just adjust the bonus rate down on subsequent charges.
I received approval for the US Bank Smartly credit card today and wanted to share some data points. I first tried to apply for the checking account but was denied due to "inconsistencies" - if you live in a state where US Bank doesn't have branches (I'm in DE) and don't have a relationship with US Bank, you need a credit card, mortgage, car loan, etc. first before you can get the checking account. I'm sure many of you knew this already but I didn't and I'm sure there's someone out there who doesn't know this either!
