I have a thread in the applications forum about an unplanned app for the USAA Preferred Cash Rewards WMC. When I apped, I got a "being reviewed" message. I called in yesterday and the CSR was unable to contact anyone in underwriting and suggested I call back on Monday.
Well, this evening I checked the email:
Thank you for choosing USAA Savings Bank and our USAA Preferred Cash Rewards® World MasterCard® for your credit card account ending in XXXX. Your card has a credit limit of $12500.00 and will arrive within 10 business days.
I am completely speechless. This is completely nuts. 13 months ago I got my first rebuild card from Cap 1, a $300 Platinum card in credit steps. Now, in the last 3 weeks or so I have received the following:
Cap 1 Venture $5000
Discover it $1300
Chase Freedom $2200
Amex BCE $1000
Lowes $12,000
Amazon $1400
and today...USAA Preferred Cash Rewards World MasterCard $12,500
You have had a good run.. Congrats!!
Congrats on the USAA approval along with the others

Knew it would be good news. Congratulations. You've earned it.
Thanks BigDaddy! And thanks to you and msbia and the others who offered encouragement and support during the wait. It was a shock to see the email this evening. I was already resolved to wait 'till tomorrow night. To be honest, I was expecting a denial. I mean, I cold apped for a WMC. I guess I'm still not used to my credit being where it is now and have trained myself to expect to be denied. I'm done apping. I'm on the wagon. I'm not clicking anything that even remotely looks like a credit card ad. My plan from here forward is to grow what I have, combine the QS1 onto the QS (when available), close the NuVision and Kays cards and get ready for the construction loan to build our retirement house in the spring of 2017. I'm not near retirement age yet, but I never plan to leave this piece of West Virginia Heaven that I own.

Never say never-at least to maybe one more card. There is still probably one more big one waiting for you before you stay on the wagon. I'm still angling for my 1st $10k card which I know will happen when I get my UTI under 10% which should happen in the fall. Like you I started out with $300 Cap 1 10 1/2 months ago, and have come a long way. USAA opened the door as my first $5K card. Once I hit 720 across the board then I can get my mortgage through BBVA. Good luck Smokeyhill. Wish you all the best.

Well look at that; I knew it!! Congratulations Smokeyhill, I am so happy for you! Now don't forget to put a reminder in your phone for six months from tomorrow to request a credit limit increase....then you can enjoy your $22,000 WMC! ![]()
I don't think there's another big one out there for me. Looking my SL's for most of the recent cards tells me that the big boys are waiting to see how this all goes for awhile. I have to look at the facts. Discover, Chase and Amex are all starter limits, or very close to it. Even the Venture, even though it's a 5K siggy card, is still a starter limit for that card. Maybe in the future I'll look into the Sallie Mae and get rid of the Amazon, but I don't shop at Amazon often, so there's no hurry there. Besides, I need to learn more about what cards to mix and match for the best configuration. I have enough credit now to buy whatever I want. I have more than enough credit to get me into serious trouble. I think I'll just put it all in a holding pattern and see what happens from here. This is rapidly becoming too much too fast. Heck, I've never even received a card offer in the mail since that Cap 1 Platinum offer just over a year ago.
