Venture One Rewards for Good Credit

DH and I contacted CapOne today to see if his card (AU here) had any product upgrades available in case that the upgrade link was not working for having two accounts(QS-$700 limit and QS1-$600 limit) for 2 years. Well we did not have any(surprise surprise). I asked the representative about the 2 card rule and she stated that she has seen customers with 10 bank card from Cap One (not including Walmart, Kohls, etc). I literally responded with, "Are you sure? Can you check the Cap One Manual?" She placed me on hold and said well I have discovered that a platinum card owner could only have 2 and that Venture One does not follow that rule. Well, my husband ran with it and said screw it let's apply! CR: All Big 3 ran. (EX 598) Approved: VentureOne Rewards for Good Credit (No Bonus, 1.25 miles) Limit: $1,000 This is our 1st Travel card so we are excited, hopefully it works for us. Woot Woot!!

Re: Venture One Rewards for Good Credit

(What follows is wild speculation and extrapolation. I'm probably way off. Just trying to spark discussion. Anyone with better info, please speak up!)

This makes it sound like they classify customers according to the highest-ranked card they have. And different rules apply to Platinum customers as compared to Venture customers. Seems like Quicksilver is equivalent to Platinum. I assume Savor counts as Venture for this purpose, but that's just a guess.

That would make a certain amount of sense, but I've never seen it discussed in these terms.

Maybe it's not this black and white. Some members here have QS cards with enormous CLs. I wonder if those folks count as Venture level?

It seems like the CL and CLI rules are different across levels. That would explain the occasional large CLIs we see when people PC to Venture or Savor cards.

I wonder what else is different?

My understanding is one can only have 2 low level cards (the ones you can ore-qual for on their website), but you can have more than 2 cards if branching out from their (re)building cards.
