Hello friends!
I have two more approvals to share... and these will likely be my last for a while - it's time to let the credit reports hibernate for the winter (and probably summer and fall... ). Since I stepped out of the garden anyway for the USAA Limitless I figured I might take a look at anything else that was on the radar. I also know that my EX and TU will likely be taking a dip in a few months when my last old installment accounts stop reporting... they fell off my EQ a while back, and it's consistently 30-40 points lower than the other two with all other things being equal. (Yes, I know about the share secured loan... I'm exploring that now.) ![]()
First was the Venture World Elite MasterCard, approved for $10k at 18.49% (matched my pre-qual offer). ![]()
(Sorry, no screen grab)
I don't have a screen grab to share but I do have a interesting data point... on the Capital One Wallet App I can access the new card number, expiration date, and CVV number so I can start working on the spend requirement for the bonus right away. It suggests using this to pay with your phone, but my cheap phone doesn't do that... it might prove useful for others, though. Note that on the "regular" Capital One app the new account number is not available... you must use the separate Wallet app to get this. Also this is for Android... I'm not sure if it works the same way on iOS. (Also note that the account numbers for my existing cards are not viewable, so this is apparently either just until the card is activiated or only available for Venture.)
My plans for this (originally back when it was still a Visa Signature) was to eventually combine it with my existing QS MasterCard, but since this will be my only WEMC I might end up leaving the cards separate. I don't want to close the QS MasterCard since at nearly 10 years old it's by far my oldest bankcard and even in 10 years will still be somewhat propping up my AAoA, but in any case I have plenty of time to consider that. Also, the old QS MC is still earning reliable CLIs on its own, so there's no reason to get in the way of that, either. (I realize there might be different opinions on how to deal with this, but this 'works' for me.)
The second approval was for a Bank of America Better Balance Rewards, actually my second... it was approved for $7k. ![]()
I don't know the APR (it's not showing on my BoA dashboard yet) but my BBR#1 was approved at 16.24% (now 16.49%) which for me isn't that bad... although I don't plan on paying any interest I'm still curious as to what the rate will be on the new card. (Edit: the APR is 12.49%)
My BBR#1 was also an instant approval last May, and the SL was $6k. I requested a CLI of $4k a couple of weeks back and it was instantly approved (with no counteroffer), making the new CL on BBR#1 $10k. I'm currently carrying a balance transfer on BBR#1 with a balance of $1700, with 0% though September.
After these new addtions (and the Limitless yesterday) I will be firmly in the garden for a while now; in addition to having to make the spend requirement on the Venture I need to let my reports cool off a bit, not to mention sit back, relax, and enjoy the fruits of my labor!
Hopefully these data points will be useful... feel free to ask questions if I've left anything out. ![]()
Edited: Added BBR APR

UnkaB has done it again!! Congrats
I need to research this BBR. It hasn't been on my radar. Is there something useful about this one? BOFA has worried me sick about applying for another card. Not planning anything for atleast six months. Does the BBR work to your advantage with a BofA bank account? Sorry for all the questions. I'm clueless on this one. Lol
Thanks so much my friend! ![]()
The BBR is popular around here because of the $100 you get back each year. The way it works is that for every quarter that you pay more than required (or PIF) each month you get a $25 statement credit or if you have a savings or checking with BoA you can get it credited there and it's $30 (extra $5).
However, it's also a really good balance transfer card as well... my 'old' one has standing offers of 0% for 18 months for 3% fee; that is fairly 'standard' however once you figure in the quarterly bonus it's the equivalent of getting a fee-free balance transfer promo whenever you need it (for an amount up to $3300 the fee would be completely covered). That's one way to do the math, anyway.
BoA has a savings account that with a balance of $300 there's no fee, but for me it wasn't worth tying up $300 in perpetuity just for $20/year extra... now that it's $40/year extra (two BBRs) I'll have to rethink that logic...LOL.
Time to rest now... done apping for a (long) while! ![]()

Thanks for the information UncleB. I'll throw the BBR on my future list of wanted cards. I noticed members having two of these. I just wasn't sure why? lol
Take a load off UnkaB and kick your shoes off..its been a great haul. Now it's time to reap the benefits![]()
lol, what time is it? spree:30?

I know, right?
I didn't set out for a 'spree', but I guess once the Limitless came though I saw that the stars were aligned, and I went for it... LOL. ![]()
Thanks! ![]()
Super congrats, UncleB! Two terrific approvals that you snagged before retiring to the garden! Got to plan ahead when you know your scores are going to drop - app for the cards you want the most while you can. That's good planning there! Enjoy all of your successes, UncleB! ![]()

You hit the nail on the head... I've actually had these on the 'back burner' for a while now so the apps weren't off-the-cuff, however I hadn't anticipated that the right time would come quite this soon after the holidays. The Limitless approval details were a reminder of how I might not get terms quite as favorable once my EX and TU take the same dip EQ already has, thus my decision to move forward now.
If I decide to get rid of the PRG I might go for an ED closer to summer, but otherwise this might be it for a while (unless something really special comes along), and I'm OK with that. Some people like the 'excitement' of applying for cards, but I don't have nerves of steel like I once did, and watching that little wheel turn can be hard on the ulcer! ![]()
Thanks again! ![]()
