I have been trying to get another limit increase on my Active Cash card periodically since my last one, on 10/28/19 when they automatically increased the limit and it went from $5500 to $7000. Every time I ask they tell me they can't do it without doing a hard pull. Today once again they said the same thing.
I requested to go from $7K to $10K. After they told me they'd have to do a hard pull. I cancelled the request and asked them to check if my Propel card was eligible to go from $15K to $20K? The rep obliged and after entering the same salary and mortgage info, quickly said that it was approved and within minutes my new limit of $20K will be available.
Wow!!! I will not complain but I must admit I'm shocked! It's almost like my Active Cash is stuck and won't increase unless I let them run my credit. I've had the Active Cash card for over 15 years. It's my oldest card. It started out as a Platinum Rewards card. Later it got automatically product changed into a Visa Signature. I eventually requested to change it to an Active Cash last year.
This is the 2nd time this has happened! They did this same thing last year when the card went from $10K to $15K. My spend on both cards is usually about the same and I pay in full. The Propel has gone from a $5500 starting limit in December 2019 to $6900, $10K, $15K on 3/24/22 and now $20K today. All of these increases were initiated by me and were soft pulls. I'm happy at least Wells Fargo is willing to let the Propel continue to grow!
