It's been quite a while since I've posted regarding my credit application success(es) so I thought now would be as good of a time as any. I have been looking for a balance transfer card to transfer/consolidate some debt. I was looking for a card with both a higher limit AND the longest 0% APR balance transfer offer available. I concluded that I may need 2 cards to do the job in order to keep my utilization low, thus I set my sights on 2 cards, the Wells Fargo Reflect, 0% APR BT for 18+3 months & The Bank Americard 0% APR BT for 21 months. (Mind you I have been receiving card offers from both respective cards for months.) I applied for both cards simultaneously and BOOM!...Instant approval on the Reflect card, $14k SL; not really what I was seeking but I'll take it. The Bank Americard came back with one of those "we'll be in touch with you with a decision in 7-10 days"...or something to that effect. I called BOA to attempt to comprehend what could have flagged me to not gete an immediate approval but was just told to wait for a letter; I have banked with them for 25+ years, my mortgage is also thru them,& my most recent credit card limits tend to sit around the $30k marker, with the highest being my NFCU More Rewards Amex, sitting at $43k. Fico 8 scores across the board were: Equifax-796 TransUnion-782 & Experian-767, so I was slightly perplexed. I decided to set my sights on a recon on the Reflect card in the interim. Upon inquiry, the agent told me to wait until I received the card and to call them back to request a recon of my SL, which I did on yesterday (05/08). The agent reviewed some basic info with me, including asking what I would like my SL to be, to which I requested $25k. He kept me on hold for about 15 minutes and came back stating he saw no reason why he could not approve a SL of $25k. However because of the higher limit, it required an additional manager's approval to finalize. He asked me to give it a couple hours and check my WF account to reflect the new SL which I checked this morning and BAM, there it is! BTW, I finally got the letter from BOA asking for me to both verify my SS# AND provide POI; the latter seems a bit odd to me considering they can see my income as all my financials are thru them, but oh well. I haven't decided if I should even bother with it at this time, since the Reflect card will do the trick now. But moral of the VERY LONG STORY is.......Sometimes, recon's work! Woohoo!!
P.S. I have to wonder would they have approved me for a bit more if I had asked but hey, why be greedy right? LOL
