Just got off the phone with them after calling the number in this thread:

The rep informed me immediately that it wouldn't be another hard pull on the report because I had just applied.

Asked for a $2k limit and stressed it would be my primary card and that I had been handling the cap1 card well.

Was countered with an offer for $1k limit which I accepted. Very happy about the outcome of all of this!

Congrats on your success Smiley Happy

Re: Which card to get started with?

Thanks for all the well wishes.

Not to get too far ahead of myself, but would there be any harm in applying for one of the GE cards now too? Or would it be better to wait a bit with just the new card then go after GE? Same story I guess, the card I got is tons better then any GE offer I'm seeing, but if I want to increase my score I feel like I need more then the cap1 and the card I was just approved for.

So would applying for a GE card be a good idea or no?

Congratulations!

You've been approved for the Sallie Mae Platinum MasterCard with a credit line of $750.00

Thanks so much to both of you!!! Can't believe how nervous I was about applying and being rejected...glad that's over with haha. I've read success stories here about people calling someone and getting the limit increased, is that something I should consider? What do you tell these people to increase the limit? I don't actually want more credit...just a higher score. I doubt that's a super good reason for them to give it to me though...

congrats

If you're looking at GE, I would say Walmart or Lowes. Walmart for the free fico, Lowes because it grows QUICK

NFCU CashRewards $13.5k | AMEX BCE $15k | Lowes $17k | Sportsmanss guide $7.6k | Chase Freedom $1k | Discover IT $4.4k |
Walmart $8k | Gordman's $2950

Re: Which card to get started with?

Absolutely. I say go for a Walmart card. Free TU fico. Although you will get one with Barclays as well. Just not monthly.
