July approvals:
AMEX Blue Cash Everyday $5K
Capital One Quicksilver $5K
Chase Freedom Unlimited $4.5K
Then pressed button for Barclaycard Rewards CLI from $1K to $2.5K on 10 month old account.
I had a thin file less than a year ago. I was able to get a QuicksilverOne $500 SL, Barclay Rewards for $1K SL, and BB Visa $500 SL. The QS1 and Barclay needed recon due to thin file. At least Cap1 saw 1 collection item and one open judgment for $13K; I talked them into it largely becaues of how I handled their secured MC Platinum with heavy usage for 4 years. Prior history showed only 2 secured cards with the oldest 4 years old. AAoA after getting the new cards back in 2016 was barely 1 year. Since I have a rather thin file, I knew I had to wait before getting more cards I wanted.
I've been using the rewards cards heavily and making multiple large (up to $1K) payments per month. Since last year, my CRs are now have no derog, show perfect payment history, and have no recent INQs, UTL >30%. FICOs were about 718 (when I get UTL <9% FICO goes to 770.) I kept checking preapprovals for these target cards every month or two. Finally after 10 months, all 3 showed preapproval for the first time. I figured with my still rather young file and 3 recent new cards in 2016, I had to wait for the preapproval.
App time. AMEX instant approval followed right away with Cap1 instant. A few minutes later, I went for a BoA Cash Rewards and got denied. It was a few days or a week before I applied for Chase and got instant. I had a cc charge off with Chase maybe 10 years ago, so was very happy with a $4.5K SL on the new card. I consider these 3 new approvals and limits very good as I continue to rebuild a good credit history.
