new credit journey..sort of

So I finally decided to start my new unsecured credit history. I moved from Canada in April of this year after living in Canada for my entire life.

It sucked coming over and having to start all over again with my credit history, my score was in the excellent range in Canada.

I started with a Wells Fargo $300 secured card, which I used and paid off right away all the time. Then in October I decided to venutre out and really start building up my credit history.

Oct 8 applied for AMEX BC card and they asked for more information. After more than a month of giving them the info and them asking for another copy they Finally approved me today!!!

Then last week I applied for Chase Freedom since I wanted a visa card which was unsecured. I read about the 1 year history they look for and also read some people got lucky. I got denied and recon did not help. Oh well.

Then I applied to Discover it card, approved after sending my address verification and SSN verification for $1000CL.

Very happy with the two cards I have. I have always had AMEX in Canada and thats the company I want to grow with over here as well but I really want a visa card too. I will wait another 6-7 months before applying for chase again.

But nonetheless I am happy to have two cards that I can use without a $300 limit!

PS. Amex did not include my limit in the email sent, how can I find it out without waiting for the card?

thanks!

Re: new credit journey..sort of

You can let both cards age for three months or so, split your spend between the two pay the American Express in full each month and let nine percent or less report on the Discover Card.  After the three months request a credit limit increase of three times your American Express card limit and request a credit limit increase on you Discover at that time and every sixty to ninety days after that.
