A Friends Question

One of my friends pretty new to the whole "Credit Runs the World" concept.  Asked a question and hell I am definately not the authority on the subject so I popped on here to see if something has advice for him.

His history as I know it:

Never really bothered with establishing credit before to much on and off.  Has only one credit card obtained 6 months ago with a CL of 7000 a VISA Platinum from Wells Fargo.  Prior only had has debt card through wells fargo that he used religiously.  He recently pulled his FICO score by my encouragement thanks to people here.  Scores rating at TU 730 and EQ 725. 

Here comes the question:

He wants to apply for a AMEX blue credit card and was wanting a ideal if he would get approved or any advice he can get?

I told him to wait until 12 months of good credit history but hell I do not know crap when it comes to getting cards really.

Does he want a rewards card or a low apr card?

Just texted him and he said which ever his best situation would be.  I think he mainly wants into AMEX for the future.  So any advice you can give him on both would be great I guess.

He will not find both rewards and low apr (under 10%) with Amex. Why is he so enamored with Amex? State Dept FCU offers both low rates and rewards if he can qualify.

LOL honestly do not know why he asked about AMEX.  The only AMEX I hold is a AU card and I am fine with that.  My other cards are enough for me so for now.  Even though I asked around about AMEX myself on here in the past.  I just did not know what to tell him.  Do you have any advice for him towards getting either the rewards or a low APR card.  Chances, Advice and such.   Will damn sure tell him the advice came from on here cause I do not know crap about AMEX really.

Well my friend did apply for the AMEX Blue Cash and got approved with a 2000 CL.  I am glad he got approved and everything worked out.
