A message to those with BOA cards wanting a CLI

about 2 weeks ago, I went online to check my BOA CC and saw the "ask for credit line increase" button, hit the button and asked for a 10k increase and was instantly approved.

So then I started thinking...maybe I should have asked for more. So I hit the button again a couple of minutes later and the generic "we will notify you in writing" crapola came up. A few days went by and I got a call from a representative telling me that they could not do more at this time. One day later I went online and I hit the luv button again and got the same generic we'll get back to you crapola. 2 days later I went online and for a 3rd time hit the luv button....and got the same lettter. A day later I called and I told them I really wanted to do a large balance transfer, but needed more of a credit line in order to do it. The lady asked me for my income and some other stuff and told me to call the next day.

The next day I go online and I see that they gave me a 2,500 CLI. How's that for PERSISTANCE !

Congratulations.  I'm glad it worked out for you, but be careful.  Dancing on the luv button can be risky business with any lender.

why do you say that ? with BOA it's soft pulls only and worst case scenario is no CLI.

Worst case scenario is they think you look desperate and CLD, RJ, or close the account.  It has happened before.

Re: A message to those with BOA cards wanting a CLI

so BoA does soft pulls? I have a BOA Amex rewards card and want to try and get a credit line increase but when I click the luv button it says enter info. So I don't do it since I thought it was gonna be a hard. I have a 5k limit just trying to get some more limit for me.

Yes, the luv button is a soft pull. They will not do a hard without your permission.

I've found BOA to be very generous with CLI's, moreso than even Citi.  I had a similar experience where I asked for a $10k increase, got it, maxed out the card, paid it off the next month and hit the CLI again, this time not putting anything in the amount (which they will allow unlike some other cards) and I received another $25k increase!  Smiley Wink
