I walked into a 7-11 and a guy was built like a truck and 25 years old used his CSR to pay for a pack of gum. First its the wrong card for that store because it is x1 but secondly its like what is he doing with a CSR to begin with? I sware a lot of people get top tier cards just because they think it makes them a winner. Why buy a 20,000 dollar vehicle when you can get into a 50,000 one? That is the logic instead of looking at the cost.

Gotta disagree with your last paragraph..  My friend makes alot of cash and he is a big dude as well, but pulls in alot of salary from his job.  Never judge a book by its cover.  He likes to keep life simple and use the CSR for everything.  His limit is 42k and also have another friend where his limit on CSR is approx 78k once again he keeps life simple and uses the CSR or Amex platinum for everything as he also just prefers to keep life simple.  We are not the normal here trying to optimize 1% vs. 2%, etc...  I can assure you both of these individuals make more than most people on this forum as well.  Rewards to the second individual is an after thought as he makes more in one day than rewards will give him back in a year.

Re: A question about Chase and Citi HP requests

Could someone clarify which body type is appropriate for CSR?

I'm like panicking over here

*holds up a mirror that's facing you*

That's the ideal body type for the CSR.

You're fine based on teh current classification. It's guys like me that have to worry. That's why my new year's resolution is to get cosmetic shoulder reduction surgery. I figure if I look more narrow and less athletic, I can justify the CSR. I'll be a hipster in no time.

If that doesn't work though, at least US Bank likes cornfed midwesterners like me.

I wanted to ask for increase on CSR (recently PCed from CSP) because I intend to use it more, but when I looked at spending summary, I only spent around $25,000.00 on it last year. Limit is $16,700.00. 🤷‍♀️
Should I wait a few months while card sees more spend, or leave it be as is?
I guess my question is how much spend affects outcome of CLI requests with Chase

Up next, Citi. Card is new(ish), I'm going to wait till SP language shows, then if CLI granted, follow it up with HP and be done with it.

@RemediosI have cards with both Citi and Chase but more experience with Chase.

CITI has been good for regular SP increases (about $3K) once every six months.  I've never felt the need to do a HP with them.  High spend doesn't seem to be needed as much as just time, some activity, and good payments.  My last increase on CITI Costco took it to $33K but I haven't done a CLI request every six months.  It's been a pretty easy process, but it just takes a little time.

From my experience, Chase is more tricky.  I have heard if you use the heck out of your credit line, they'll love you to pieces and give you auto-luv.  I've never done that and if I'm not mistaken, don't think I've EVER gotten an auto increase from Chase.  Not only that, but when I asked for CLIs and they did a HP,  they were normally denied also.  Used to make me very angry to waste a HP and then get nothing. My scores and income were not as high then, but in hindsight I really think what held me back was more heavy purchase history on the card.

(*While I didn't have high new charges with Chase, I did do several BT offers that used a large percentage of my CLs.  I don't think BT usage is factored in the same as new purchases.  I paid these over the full BT period and it appears they much prefer spend-and-pay on a monthly basis.)

I've got the high limits I have with them now due to their liberal CL consolidation practices and by opening multiple cards.  Plus, most of my cards were opened in recent years where I have the high income and high scores they seem to love the most, so they gave me generous SLs.  In your case, with the usage you posted for CSR, I think you've got a great chance of being approved for a higher limit on it.  I think it's worth the HP.  You spent almost 1.5x the CL over 12 months.  That's good usage.

I have often advocated on My Fico that the easiest and fastest way to CLI with Chase is to open new cards and reallocate limits.  I would not be too quick to close the donor cards just to keep from being too obvious about what you were doing.  (My Marriott and Hyatt cards stay open with $10K limits after donating higher limits to my core cards.  I debate whether I will bother to keep either open long-term, but it's doubtful.  They are both in their first year.  The SUBs were great!  I like them but my employer pays for hotel rooms directly for my business travel.  So my spend on rooms is not really high enough annually to justify having a dedicated card for each chain.  I also closed and consolidated a previous Amazon Visa I had for several years.)
