A question about Chase and Citi HP requests

Re: A question about Chase and Citi HP requests

I don’t have experience with Chase.

With Citi, I had a SP CLI within 3 months. It was 50% of the SL. My second CLI was only 1k, but I’ve only done 1 BT and have not put any spend through the card. Once I pay off this BT I’ll PC it, but almost doubling my SL in less than a year was great in my eyes.

I’ve been told by a CSR (and I’m sure I’ve read it here too) that your first offer will be based on the SP, if you want more they’ll do a HP.

Good luck if/when you pull the trigger 😊

Re: A question about Chase and Citi HP requests

Thanks, Bb!
I will wait to see what happens with first SP, then probably go ahead and ask for HP.
I need to make it usable, but it's not an issue like AR was, because I'll never put that kind of spend on it.
It would be nice to make it grow, even if it gets PCed to something else.
Citi seems to have decent BT offers, and I'm all about "just in case".
All that requires a limit I can work with.

With majority of my HPs disappearing into oblivion, i feel like i have some wiggle room.

One thing I'll add about Citi is that when the SP language comes up for you (mine have appeared in as little as 2 weeks from approval), you need to know if you're ready for a HP CLI. If you don't follow up with a HP request right away, you may have to wait another 6 months to try again. You're only eligible for one CLI about 6 months apart whether SP or HP.

Re: A question about Chase and Citi HP requests

I think if you go for the SP/HP dip so to speak you can at least get it doubled up and get limit into the five digits, and from there you can just SP it up if it'll be a secondary card

For me first increase SP got me $2k, HP another $5k to double my limit to $14.3k, SP back in October for another $1.5k to $15.8k. Will probably do another double dip in March and go SP from then on out

Yeah, I wish I knew this back in October. I waffled at the time taking a HP and a few days later I tried but no dice Smiley Indifferent

You understand that because of your "two weeks" I'm going to start looking daily 😂

On a serious note, thank you!

That's very mean.

Also, it's something I dont understand...if your customer is willing to take a HP and have them scrutinized all over, why not allow it? I can see limiting intervals between requests, but I dont understand not allowing requests

Would it help if I said that I noticed around 2 weeks later but the SP language could've been there much sooner? 🤣

You're welcome? 😁

Best guess is Citi's infamous IT department set it up to where if the customer doesn't request it at the same time/day as the SP it resets the clock and the wait begins. Reps have no say on whether you qualify or not it's all computers
