? AMEX 3X CLI question

So a lot of us are aware of the very nice 3x CLI feature from AMEX.   in a short timeframe, a $1,000 SL can increase to $3,000 then to $9,000 and $27,000....

However, would this exponential increase be plausbile with a $10,000 SL?  ($30,000 -----> $90,000 ---------> $######) ?

When would a POI request kick in?

Re: ? AMEX 3X CLI question

From all the posts I’ve read over the years, it seems like $35k triggers POI for a large number of people.
Of course, it all depends on your own profile. They may request POI for a lower CL or deny someone based on income and other factors.
Personally, I’ve requested $60k on one card and got approved without POI. I haven’t tried more than that, but I also have other cards and overall exposure is up in the 6 digits. Then, I’ve also moved credit around as needed a couple of times, so I’m all set for now.
I’m sure it also helped that I was maxing out cards and paying them off for some time before requesting higher limits.

Re: ? AMEX 3X CLI question

Definitely depends on the profile.  My first 4506-T request with Amex was when I believe I asked to go from $27k to $81k on the old Starwood Preferred Guest card.  (They did not approve that one, although today I am a bit north of $90k across all my Amex revolvers.)

there's a reddit thread about somebody who didn't ask for more than $5k at a time, which the user found success with asking for $5k every 6 months until they hit their true hard income limit with no POI

I asked for a dumb high number recently and was just told, no, you're at the income limit, buzz off. A few months later I ask for $3k and it's granted instantly. I wonder if asking for large amounts is more spooky and counter-offers aren't always given even if they would be willing to extend additional CL, just not how much you asked for.

but honestly, amex seems more than willing to grant what is warranted and in a lot of cases, well beyond what is warranted.

Re: ? AMEX 3X CLI question

Thanks for the insight & info @imaximous and @K-in-Boston.

For the record, I got back in with Amex a few months ago - (BCE with this $10,000 SL.)

I would be fine if I was asked to complete a 4506 T but prefer

to be under any radar.

Re: ? AMEX 3X CLI question

Thanks @GZG .

I plan to be conservative with

any of my requests especially due to what I suspect to be an internal crossed file with my wife.  When my BCE card arrived, HER name was imprinted on it.   All of the paperwork though had my name...  Smiley Surprised
