AMEX 3x CLI question

When requesting an AMEX CLI for 3x CLI or other, does AMEX do a soft pull at the time submitted? Or is it based on their regular soft pulls that they do?

From what I understand its your latest account monitoring SP, a SP is not pulled on the spot for the CLI.

I believe that you are correct. After being granted my Day 61 3X CLI, I checked my SPs and the latest SP from Amex was last week. I would assume this is why they SP like crazy the first few months.

Also interested about this as I was approved for my amex this morning? After reading around I noticed everyone that has an amex card either did or was looking forward to the 3x cli from amex. Is this a thing that is commonly approved? I got the everyday card so I am eligible for the 10K points bonus after spending 1K in the first 92 days.. I was planning on doing this but didn't want amex to think I was just loading up the card on my 3K limit.. So I guess my question is to get approved for the 3x cli how much of a balance should I let it report and should I let it report a balance every month?

All depends on one's credit and income versus AmEx's criteria.  Some get approved, some do not.  Doesn't hurt to request it.  Definitely read the 3x CLI thread if you have not.

There's no way to answer your question.  I've had CLI's with and without balances (never exceeding the generally recommended 30% max utilization).  Just as with any matter of credit it's never about just one factor.  Maintaining a specific reported balance or certain usage isn't going to guarantee anything on its own.

AmEx doesn't need to refer to your report for the balances on your AmEx accounts.

btw your first 3x cli you can try after 61 days, the next one would be 6 months after that.
