AMEX 61 DAY 3X CLI - Should I Go For It?

Hi fellow FICO people!!

I have a question and I would like some feedback from the community on if/how I should go about requesting it.

I was approved on 7/1 for $8,000 with an EX score of 742 (haven't checked it since then)

Quick stats about my profile that may be useful:

Oldest account: 9 months

Total available credit: $8,750

Total income: $12,000

Inq on EX: 4

Current balance on AMEX card: $811

Should I go for the full 3X (expecting counter offer) or not go for it?

Should I pay down my balance to $0 first?

I want to do a mini app spree in December/January for the Chase Freedom and Citi Double Cash. I don't want to get approved for a CLI closer/above my current reported income and then get denied for those cards based on too much available credit. (Are Chase/Citi sticklers of this?)

What are your thoughts? Any input is appreciated!

that proabbly would be an good idea i don't think it would be mandatory tho. Just curious with so little income how did you get such a nice intial Cl, quite impressive.

Total income = $12,000?  If that isn't an error, I'd really like to see the outcome.  This should be interesting.  Go for it!!! Good luck!

Honestly I am not even sure myself. I followed the myFICO community guidelines to a T and only let $10 (2%) balance report on my Discover for the initial 6 months waiting to generate a FICO score. On 7/1 when I logged into here, and saw that I could finally get one, I went ahead and applied for BCE and got instant approval for 8K. I was only expecting like 1-2K myself with my low income. (Freshman College student, I only work part time as a cashier while I am in school)

But that brings up another question - Did the computer possibly make an error upon approval and assign me the wrong credit line? If someone were to manually review my account, would I be CLD'd to the correct amount? Or does AMEX really trust me?

I will make sure to keep you guys updated! I want to hear a bit more feedback from the community, and I have decided to pay my AMEX down to $0 first, which is going to take a few days because of banks being closed for the holiday. (I need to transfer money over from a different account)

Re: AMEX 61 DAY 3X CLI - Should I Go For It?

Don't forget to plan your request with the last SP for max chances of success.

Good luck

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

Ah yes, if I remember correctly, they use the last SP date as a basis of decision. And thanks for the support!

You have to view your report directly from the reporting agency; Experian.
