AMEX AU 7 To 14 Day Letter for AU Card

I attempted to add my wife as an AU since the Rose Gold is back. I put in all her info (DOB; SSN etc) and got the 7 to 14 day message. She does have her own Amex ED card so she is in their system. Is this normal not to instantly approve an AU when submitted?  I am assuming that it must be a denial. Any thoughts?

Perhaps the information inputted didn't match. Have you tried calling customer service and see what the issue was? It may be that they'll approve adding her as an AU it may just take further verification.

Re: AMEX AU 7 To 14 Day Letter

Thanks for suggestion. I tried to chat about it and the CSR said it takes 7 to 14 days to get a card. He didn't give a definitive answer when I asked if the AU is approved? Didn't expect an issue since she has her own Amex in good standing.  I thought it would be an instant approval. Just hope they approve and send her out a Rose Gold.

Know that if she is issued rose gold, you’ll also be getting a rose gold card to replace your own. I called in and did the switch an hour ago and was told that all existing golds would be replaced with rose golds.

I chatted and asked if she would get a Rose Gold before I tried to add her and she said yes.  I already have the Rose Gold from last year. She hates Rose Gold jewelery but loves the Rose Gold Amex.

As long as her own account(s) is in good standing I'll be surprised if there's an issue.

Thanks UncleB.  I saw a missed call from AMEX yesterday but it was around 8 PM when I saw it.  I contacted them by chat to see if I needed to do something but chat couldn't see any issues but they also said they did not see an  AU on the account or anything pending regarding an  AU.  I will call back today to see if someone can figure out who called and why.

If there are any issues, resubmit the request without providing your AU's SS# and DOB up-front (it will let you do the request without them).

Both will still have to be provided when the card is activated, but for some reason this sometimes works out better.  Smiley Wink

I just did this again and  and it says we received the application but can't give you a decision right now. It says pending personal verification of your application the additional card(s) will arrive at your billing address........... We will process your application as soon as possible and send you a decision within 14 days.

I tried calling but they have mountain time hours for applications on Saturdays so I will call after 10 AM mountain time (I am CST) and see what they say. The first AU app contained all of the AU's info so I don't know what they are verifying.  Her phone number and email are the same as mine on her Amex personal account and my accounts.  She has a different postal mailing address but we both have the same physical address. I'll post what happens.

If the first AU request is still pending in their system they might have simply ignored the second one.  In any case when you speak to a CSR they should be able to provide some insight.
