Can you usually get approved for an AMEX ED and Chargecard with a 650-680 credit score?
Working on improving my score and ideally I'd like to get the AMEX.
I know someone who was approved and Amex said their EX FICO score was 676. Also, google "whogavemecredit" and "credit pulls database" to see some anecdotal results.
Good luck!
I probably won't be applying until December for the AMEX.
I was just curious and thanks.
I was approved last week with 664. I would say the score is a minimum of 660.
I have heard that the charge cards are easier to get than the revolvers and even chatted with an Amex Rep when I was in the process of applying for my Amex card and was told by the rep that the Green charge card was the easiest to get. My scores at the time were 660's on EQ and TU and 708 on EX. I went against his advice and went ahead and applied for the revolver Amex Everyday and got it, but i'm sure it was a lot due to the fact that they pull EX and that happened to be my highest score. Point being though that the rep said I had a really good chance of almost certainly getting the green card with a score in the mid 600's so I'd say you're good to go on that, but of course as always YMMV
If i recall when i applied for BCP, stupidly i may add, I had an score in the 670ish range. I say stupidly because my credit wasn't quite ready to apply for an card like that. I should have been patient and waited.
I got approved for all my Amex stuff with my Experian FICO score being in the late 600s range. It's a 689 right now and was a 695 not too long ago. Anyway, I got my foot into Amex not by applying for a charge card but one of their revolvers which was one of their Delta Skymiles cards and two months later going for a charge card and another revolver which was the EveryDay card I had wanted to get originally. It's been said that all of their charge cards have similar underwriting criteria and the biggest differences are how much of an annual fee you're going to pay as well as the different benefits and rewards those cards come with.
I was approved last week for Amex Green and EveryDay with an EX of about 665 with a AAoA of 2 years, under 10% overally utilization and, a few new accounts and a couple of lates on a student loan from 2010. My stats were about the same 30 days prior and I was denied then...so I don't really get it but I'm not complaining!
The only problem with applying when you score is not great is that the APR that will be offered will not be ideal if you are a person that tends to carry balances. Depending on the CCC getting them to lower your initial APR can be impossible with out reapplying and getting another card.
I would tell someone in that situation that is better to wait until their score improves and that it would better for them in the long run to be patient.
