Hey guys & gals! I was approved yesterday for the Amex Blue card after having to call in and verify it was indeed me due to a fraud alert on my credit report. After talking to them, I was approved within 3 minutes. Awesome. I received an email saying that they were processing my application. The guy on the phone said that I wll receive my card in 7-10 days, but he was going to expedite it since I had to call in (for the inconvenience, lol). When I check on the online application status, it still says "In Process". Do I have anything to worry about? Standard?
Second question, I started my credit rebuild last year in February, and opened up a $200 secured Capital One Card. Since I've been approved for the Chase Freedom, Discover It, and now Amex Blue, should I call in and close the secured card? Do you get the $200 deposit back if you do? This was my first secured card, and until I get the other cards in the mail, still my only active CC, with a whopping $200 balance, lol.
What are your thoughts?
Will all those prime cards yes 100% close the card. How much was your deposit that is how much you will get back. If you had to deposit the full 200 you will get that back. I am not sure how long it takes I have not asked for my deposit back yet I am hoping to be where you are someday soon lol.
Awesome. Thank you all. I think my AAoA is 8 years on EQ, and 12 on the other two. So I don't think the AAoA hit will take place closing the secured card. I just want my Amex, haha.
I guess my next question, once I get all 3 cards in the mail, is there a spending pattern that I should be using on them? Rotate them monthly? Discover 1 month, Freedom next, Amex thrown in the mix each month?
Also, I read someone's thread about asking Capital One to do a Product Change to the QuickSilver or something comparable due to their new credit worthiness. I don't really care about having another card, as I probably won't use it unless the benefits are insane. Probably still not worth changing it versus closing it? I paid the full $200 deposit unfortunately. I guess the good news is, I'll get my money back

I rotate all 3 of my cards always showing 1% balance on one and 0% on the other two. Things might be changing at cap one but I do know that almost no one has gotten a secured cap one to become unsecured. The best they will do is give an additional unsecured increase like they did with me...
Thanks Bigblue, good luck on your journey. It looks like you're well on your way. If you would have told me that I would have applied the other day and gotten these 3 cards, I would have laughed. I was thinking just a basic starter card, especially since my mortgage isn't reporting, etc. All that was showing was my history and then 1 open $200 Secured Card. Whatever reason all 3 companies saw, I'll take it though
Hopefully by the weekend I'll have the AMEX tucked very tightly into the "display" window in my wallet, lol.

Thank you and congrats on your cards. Thats gotta be an amazing feeling.
I recently just closed my Cap 1 secured card as well. Seamless process did it without talking to anyone. Took about a week to get my security deposit back in the mail.
Thanks kat. I appreciate it. Did you do it online or via automated phone? I'll go ahead and do that as soon as my cards get here in the mail.
And.... Called in, after the "In Process" status for too long, and the girl came back and said, "Good news, welcome to the American Express family". "Your card is being expedited, you will have it within 2-3 days". Afterwards, I received the acceptance email as well w/ the same 2-3 days verbiage, and set up the account access.
Wooohooo. I was worried it was going to be retracted for some reason.
