Has anyone used this feature before? I bought a game from Amazon with the BCE. I now see Newegg is selling the same game $8 cheaper. However a code is required to get the Newegg price. Will AMEX still cover the price protection? Or will it be invaild due to the requirement of a code? I have never used this feature, is this something I can do from my online account management screen?
I'm pretty sure Amex hasn't offered Price Protection (at least on new cards) for several years.
*There is Return Protection, but "computer software" and "firmware (including, but not limited to, console games, etc.)" are officially listed as exclusions (at least on BCE, I've not checked the terms of higher-end Amex cards).
Will Amazon accept a return?
Whatever you do, it's not a matter of just filling in a form and sending it to Amex. You'd have to get a refund one way or another, and then make a new purchase. That may or may not be worth the $8.
Thanks for the info. I thought it was offered. Oh well, I already opened the game so I am unable to return the item to Amazon.

Use an app like "Offer Up" to try and recoup some of the money lost. I went through Amex's benefit terms & conditions and it doesn't look like you'll be covered in this scenario. Thank you for posting though, I thought this is something that might be covered but I guess not. You have me wondering if my Chase Visa Signature cards would cover that.

I thought price protection was offered too, good thing I asked. Thank you for suggesting "Offer Up" looks like a cool site. I don't plan on getting rid of the game as I have playing with my buddies. I was just looking to see if I can get some funds back as it is now being sold for less than my purchase price.
I just got an email from Citi about something called Price Rewind. Sounds like the kind of thing you're looking for.
I think they offer "Purchase Protection", not PRICE. Meaning if you buy a stereo it extends the warranty as long as you bought it on your card.

Citi is the best for price protection. Price Rewind is a disorganized, illogical mess that often produces erroneous low prices.
And, when that doesn't happen, you can always submit a claim by email.
