I debated with my wife for weeks about apping for this card in April, mostly because the AF makes both of us cringe. Three months, three statements later, I have received $126 in cash back for spend in qualifying categories, $150 statement credit for meeting spend requirement, and so far $54 in statement credits for qualifying Wireless Provider spend. Thats a $330 total, or enough to cover the AF for a little over 4 years.
Win.
This is my fave card.
So far since I got mine in Oct 2015:
$250 bonus
$145 Offers
$121 Cashback
-----
$516 Total
Congrats on the ROI. Results like this make me more inclined to consider AF cards (I too cringe at the thought of being locked in to pay for a card and having to either cancel or PC if they let you). But if you can have the card pay for itself multiple times over, I would say that is a win!

I plan on getting this card down the road and cancelling 3 or 4. Great rewards structure.
@Anonymous, do you mean cancelling 3 or 4 of your other cards to get this card? Any particular reason why you want to cancel other cards?

The ROI obtainable on this card is unbeatable (if your spending habits warrant). >$300 in three months is fantastic in my view. Its definitely become my daily driver. I have yet to take advantage of any offers, but I look through them frequently, and almost always see something I could justify the spend for the offer reward.
I'm a bit sad I apped for the BCE prior to this, but I plan to reallocate the CL over to the BCP and close that one out. Once the BCP arrived, the BCE quickly took the 'red-headed step child' role.
I am a fan of any amex card (well ha, obviously from my signature!)
Amex offers are sure to be an added perk down the road. Just dont forget if you do have multiple amex cards that you open them up in separate tabs otherwise the offer may disappear if it was on more than one card! (use separate logins for AUs)
Aside from the fact the BCP really only has a max of 4.75% cash back since its groceries are capped at 6k, and the AF, it is still a great deal. Not to mention APR reductions, etc. I do believe you could downgrade the BCP to regular BCE at any time. Whereas BCE to BCP you'd have to wait 13 statements due to cardact. Right? All I know is I have seen some really nice amex offers that seemed to be more targeted to the cash back amex cards instead of the MR earning ones.

Always crunch the numbers for your spend and consider total cost/benefit and not just AF. YMMV but my biggest rewards come from cards with AF's.
I added the BCP on my possibilities list once I moved to different side of town where Safeway is my main shopping spot. I avoided apping for a new amex because my grocery store, Fred Meyer, is treated like a wearhouse shopping center by Amex. I have two cards with an AF and I've already earned back my AF three fold.
