I was approved for the AMEX BCED card about a month ago. I've used the card for some things and have since paid off my balance in full. (Only because all other cards were roughly maxed out. All cards now down to a total util of less then 9%).
When I was approved, AMEX said I would be allowed to receive a CLI at a later time. They didn't really say when. But it was my understanding that it could be close to 3X more than what my SL was ($500). I'm wondering if I should submit a request for the increase or wait another 2 months or so and allow statements to cut and see if it's automatic.
Has anyone else had this experience?
You want to wait until Day 61+. I went with Day 64 just to be "safe" and received my first 3X CLI at that time. Just make sure you count the days correctly from the date your account was opened.

You're 'allowed' to apply for a 3X CLI. In no way is it guaranteed and with your starting limit i of $500 there is a good chance that you won't receive a CLI for sometime. Certainly try for one and if you're denied then you can try again in 91 days but don't be too disappointed if you're declined. The $500 starting limit is Amex's way of telling you that you were barely approved and they more than likely want to see some history with the card before giving you anymore. Good luck when you do apply. Even if you're denied on the first couple attempts your limit will go up eventually as long as you use the card responsibly and your credit scores rise.
Thanks for the info everyone. I spoke to a representative and they let me know that I've reach the suitable 60+ days to apply for a CLI. Am going to wait until my scores are updated from having a high utilization of 76% (Now dropping down to around 9%). Once those numbers are reflected and the improvement in my score is there (Whatever it may be), I'll hit the CLI Button!
