AMEX CLI 61Day CLI question ..

im looking to try for the 3x 61 day cli on my amex magnet card.    my starting limit on that card was $2000.   but i moved over $2600 from my BCE.  Should i ask for the 3x off the original limit or the limit i have now?   everywhere i read people ask from the limit they started with.      im also afraid of asking for 3x of my current limit  $4600 to  $13800 cause i only make $25K a year.

They're going to do it based on the limit you have at the moment. Not always a guarantee you'll get it because they do look at things like income for any type of CLI, but you are well within your right to ask for the $13k limit. They'll counter if they're uncomfortable. Good luck!

Go for the full limit if you would like. If they don't want to give that much the worst they will likely do is counter with a slightly lower amount. Good luck and let us know!

I started at $1000 limit two years ago. At 61 days I requested $3000, and it was granted. Once the promo window ended (0% APR), I got an auto CLI to $9000. A few months ago I requested another increase, but was only given $3600 more in place of what I requested. It wasn't what I asked for, but I can't be mad at that.

Give it a shot. Maybe they'll bite, maybe they won't. Only one way to find out...
