Today was 61 days since opening my personal AMEX SPG account. It was opened with a $9,500 limit. I called in and used the automated phone system. Requested $25,000 based on information I have gathered here about requesting a 3X CLI up to 25K. Was approved for $15,300.
I do appreciate the bump, but I was really hoping for a 25K line. I have another credit line in that range. I claimed 84K in income, which is EXACTLY what my tax return will show if I am FR'ed. (I was previously Fr'ed, love AMEX, and am very careful to guard the good relationship) I claim what I can prove easily.
I have a Plum and Gold business card that we run 30k a month or so through.
How do they come up with the CLI request approval amounts? Anyone know? Was the reduced amount based on my stated income? What are the chances they will increase the limit in 6 mos? The 1st 2 mos i ran about $2k through and PIF'ed a few days before the statement cut.
Thanks

Maybe they wanted you to run through closer to your $9,500 limit in order to give you a larger credit limit???
I am wondering about this for myself. My 61st day doesn't happen until next month and, I am wondering how much I should run through my BCP card in order to be considered eligible for the CLI.
I say that's an awesome CL though super nice. Congrats!!!
9.5K to 15K is already a big jump in 60 days.
You already have 2 business cards with large CL, do you really need 25K CL on a personal CC?
Be happy with what you have. A lot of worthy people have so much less.
I'm actually hopefully for the same. I had a higher credlit limit on my Clear card until I cancelled it. This was all before I knew about this site and hope I kept it.
I had no problem going from 8k to 24k at the 61 day mark. I know payment amounts go into CLI approval. What were your payment amounts? Personally I wouldn't worry about it too much. Given that another CLI is available in 6 months, you will be fine in a bit. Fact is you got around an 80% increase which is great given 61 days.
Out of curiosity, can you give us a little more about your history with AMEX and current guess on FICO.
