So Ive had my everyday card since 2014....Started at 1k, still at 1k. Ive apped every 90 days for a CLI and they get denied each time. Always pay more than the minimum, never late and even have a preapproved offer for the amex nextstep. 3 months ago, I decided to just apply for the blue cash card and approved for 1k again..... I decided to apply for a cli on the blue cash today and denied. WHY?! I dont get it
Has your credit score changed much withint he last year? When you get the denial letter does it say why?
Maybe a score thing? I dunno. I also got the EveryDay card in 2014, but got a $5000 limit with scores around 700. I finally applied for a CLI two weeks ago and got bumped to $7500 with a 764.
The score amex gives me on their website is 685. figured that would atleast give me more than 1k. The letter tells me time about my AAoA, inquiries and utilization but ive had it under 30% for a couple months now.
Mauybe try PIF for a few months and hit the button again. Amex likes it when you PIF even though it's not a charge card. Now that you have to 2 of them you'll want to pick which one you really want to keep to CLI on since you'll only be able to every 6 months once you actually get a CLI on either of them.

How come only a $2500 increase..? You should have asked for $15k.. you probably would have gotten it!!
OP it's not just you, there's a lot of threads about a few of us. One common link I noticed is most if not all of us had a $1k SL. I think that's based off our profile when we apped. Sure Amex used to be harder to get into but I think when they paste you with a $1k SL they are really letting us know, we will let you put a foot in but we won't give you the opportunity to get both in for a while. I've had so many reasons given, the last one was no a long enough relationship then turned around and got a preapproved mailer for a charge card (not revolver) with them. I feel like that's a trick bag but also a way to see if I could manage to PIF on the charge card monthly and not revolve the balance.
I rarily ever carry a balance on my Amex but if I do it's PIF before the following statement can cut. Also make sure since you do have a 2nd card, your CLI timing is still tied to the first one (DH just learned that one the hard way). You have 91 days from denial on one card before you can apply again I believe on either card you have for a CLI. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong on the timing, but I know there is one) my last denial I was advised I applied for an increase too soon and they said when I would be eligible to apply again at the end of this month. But this last denial was the first time they asked me to call after I hit the button. Maybe that's a stepping stone, my card just hit a year old and I paid the AF.

LOL... pushing my luck. Went a little overboard and added 4 new cards and requested CLI on 6 others, adding just over $64,000 to my limits. I'm sitting at $115,000 right now, with a Barclay Ring application pending for about a week. Six years ago I had one DCU Visa with a $500 limit (which was just bumped up for the first time, to $10,000).
Stupid side story related to the DCU Visa... DCU was my original "bank" before changing jobs about 10 years ago. Like I said, I had a $500 limit but never got a CLI until now. I switched to a new local CU, but in ten years I've never applied for a credit card from them, until this past weekend after all of the above carnage. The online app approved me for a $500 limit. Then on Monday morning I got an email from the CU telling me that upon further review they were declining me, for "escalating debt". That's a new one. All my other declines were for too many applications. My debt is declining.
Just want to provide an update...... I FINALLY got a 3x CLI!
On 11/22/16, I requested a CLI and it was denied again...... Yesterday I decided why not call in and complain a little about this. The rep I spoke with placed another request and transfered me to the credit line department. Of course it was denied because of the 91 day rule but the guy sent it to reconsideration. I decided to check my account and couple minutes ago and I was suprised my new avaliable credit limit was 3k!!
Starting to love AMEX again!
