Re: AMEX CLI

My next closing date is November 13 which would mean my second statement will drop. Have run about 4k through the card and both months were PIF.

So we shall see soon.

If I got a 2k line, should I ask for 6k or 4k

I think someone said 3x time your current line

I just asked for and was approved for a $7,500.00 limit. I started with a $2,500.00 limit on my Clear Amex a little over 2 months ago and charged no more than $150.00 total. However, I continued to make heavy use of my Gold PR card, spending anywhere between 5-9K per month. The 3x rule appears to have worked in my situation.

Re: AMEX CLI

ok so I spoke with a rep yesterday who told me my card was activated on the 13th of September. So I count that November 14 should be the day to do a CLI.

Anyone else see that different?

Thanks

Re: AMEX CLI

Your 60 day anniversary is today (11/12/11). Wait until day 61 to request the increase, which will be Sunday, 11/13/11.

I asked for 3x CL and was approved.

Have anyone had success in requesting a CLI after 61 days and than another one before the 6 months date? or the rule of thumb is to ask for your 1st CLI after 60 days than wait another 6 months to request a CLI. Reason I ask is because I received a CLI after 60 days but I want to request another increase before the 6 months to help out my UTIL % and increase my CL. Don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing in OP eyes but my goal is to avoid apping for a 2nd Amex card to take another hard hit and just work on getting more credit cause Amex do soft pulls for CLI. My EX plus score is 747 (not fico) and I am wondering if Amex will approve the increase or will their system just declined me base on their policy.

Anyone with some infor.....thanks in advance!

I don't see why they would grant one in 4 months instead of six.  The policy says six, but you could always call and ask.  Let us know if you find out different.

Side note, are you using "OP" for other people?  I was trying to figure out why you were saying that it might be a good or bad thing in the original poster's ("OP") eyes.

The original question is...if I have an amex card, got my 1st increase after 60 days....can I request another increase 3-4 months after the 1st 60 days increased? of do I have to wait 6 months after my 1st increase?

I have the card for a total of 5 1/2 months now, got my 61 days increased.....I wanna ask for another one to bump up my CL...the worst thing Amex can do is say no but I don't want them to red flag my account by asking for a CLI twice within 6 months of having the card.

The system automatically kicks out all CLI requests if you have had a CLI or transferred credit limits between cards in the next 6 months.

The phone and online system will allow you to request a CLI before 6 months, but it will not go through in their system. For online requests, you get a 7-10 days message and when you go to the status page there is not status.
