Re: AMEX CLI

Great topic! I got my Amex BCP last January with a 10K CL, requested a CLI in May and it increased to $10K and just this morning requested an increase to $50K and it was approved! I'm quite surprised. I was not aware of the 3x increase. EX F8 is 791.

Should I request a 3x CLI in six months? In other words, what sort of CLs does AMEX provide?

Re: AMEX CLI

Oops, I meant to say that in May my CL increased $10K to $20K (I can't find an edit button the phone).

Re: AMEX CLI

Yes, every 6 months you can request and receive a CLI from Amex.  If you are now at $20k, you could likely request $34.5k from them 6 months from now and get it without IV.  Anything > $34.5k typically requires IV, so that may be what you want your target number to be next go round.

Re: AMEX CLI

Thanks. I had a $20K CL and requested a CLI of $50K and Amex approved $50K w/out income verification. I wonder how much they'll approve in 6 months?!

Re: AMEX CLI

Not saying it won't happen, but I doubt they'll go much over $50k unless you spend a ton a month on it.

Re: AMEX CLI

^^^ That makes sense. Plus, I don't need any more credit.

Thanks for the perspective.

Re: AMEX CLI

I think I saw somewhere that the highest they'll go is 100K.  I'm not sure where I saw it or if I saw it but the number sticks out to me.  $50K takes quite a bit even for a heavy spender with the resources and probably should be looking into some business lines as to not anger the credit gods at AMEX with co-mingling pers/biz expenses.

$50k without IV?  Can't say I've heard of that before.  I know a few people have reported getting past the supposed $35k threshold and hit $40k without IV, but I've never heard of someone grabbing $50k, especially going from a $20k jump.

Re: AMEX CLI

They did ask for my income which I answered and it can back in 60 seconds with the approval. I have checked the app several times (I tend to be skeptical) to confirm and the CL is displayed at $50K. Maybe they'll change their mind, maybe I was in a sweet spot or maybe they're relaxing some rules?

My average spend over the last six months is $3300 so I don't think that qualifies as a big spender. Mostly gas, groceries, restaurants and some travel.

EX F8 = 791 (per myFICO and the AMex site)
