Does anybody know when you request a CLI with AMEX on their website will it tell you instantly if you were approved or not?

Re: AMEX CLI

Not always. It may give you seven to ten day message. There is a false rumor that you can request on every thirty days but that is not true. A cred. rep told me def. once every six mos as long as you are current and not overcharged, maxed out, etc.

But what you can do is call them 24 hours later. Also- if you have one card w/ them and request a CLI- you def. must wait 35 days or more to request another CLI for the other card.

Has something changed? I have tap danced on the luv button numerous times for the last 10 months. At least 5 times.

Re: AMEX CLI

Hmmm,

I initially applied and was approved for the AMEX Blue then i got the AMEX Blue Cash.  I asked for a CLI upon activation on the AMEX Blue and was approved with a total CL of 10K.  I then tranfered 9K to the Blue Cash giving that one a total of 11.9K.

This was in August 2007.  Yesterday i got a CLI on the Blue Cash to 20K.  So, as you all can see the 6 month doesnt apply, at least it didnt for me.  I applied for the CLI online and was approved instantly.

I am current on the AMEX Blue Cash.  I have about 6.5K ish on their currently and i pay around 1-2k per month depending on how i feel.  It is my card of choice so i wanted the higher CL to support my needs.  I may ask for another CLI but will wait 3-6 months, depending on my utilization.

Re: AMEX CLI

I just got my AMEX Blue card and upon activation I asked for a $1600 CLI and I got the 7-10 day notice.  I got my letter in the mail yesterday saying the account has to be open for 30 days before asking for a CLI.

Has anyone heard of that one?

I got the 7-10 day message just 2 weekends ago. while I am at it- I want to make sure we are talkign about the same thing for my sake. When we say luv button- are you talkng about the part where it says go to member serv and ask for CLI and then you type in the box the total amount you wish to bring you total line to?

Or is there some other place that I am missing.

and yes, did the the 7 day reply but called back 2to 3 days later and got approved.

Yes, I'm talking about the same luv button. AFAIK, you can still tap it every 30 days + 1 minute.

Re: AMEX CLI

So we are talking about where you go to the point of where you  enter total credit line you want right? That's what we are talkign about when we say luv button right?
When I am am saying it might not be  true that you get it every thirty days what I am saying is that you MIGHT be able to get a CLI increase every 30 days- but you might not. Espec. if you have multiple cards. Again, you might be one of the lucky ones and get it every time, But then again- I got the 7 to 10 days thing

I was told by a rep that if you want almost GUARENTEED cli - check every six mos and as long as you are paid up, within parameters, etc. you will most prob get it.

Again, I myself asked for CLI and was given 7-10 day mess but called back  later after 2 days

so to sum up- when we say luv button we are saying where you go and enter in the total CLI increase you want to bring it to the card total?

TIA
