AMEX Delta Gold

I read everywhere on this forum that the easiest entrance to AMEX is the Delta Gold card. I have fairly good credit (699EQ myFico) that is improving everyday. My concern is if I apply for this card vs. just applying for blue or clear the inital CL may not be as good. What is the highest initial CL you have seen with the Delta Gold and which do you recomend I apply for? If it helps I am an AU on my Dad's Blue with a CL of $15200.

Re: AMEX Delta Gold

I'd take that! Is this your first account with AMEX? Also, did you convert your card yet or do you plan on keeping Delta? What other CL's do you have on your other cards?

Re: AMEX Delta Gold

Yes, first Amex card. I converted it to Blue. I looked it over, and Blue had a better rewards program IMO. Since I got my foot in the door with Amex, I charged a couple thousand dollars on it and PIF immediately. They wouldn't let me do it online until after the first statement cut so I mailed in a check. I guess they liked that, as they approved me for Green and Clear yesterday. The Clear only has 2k, but I'll take that.

Amex was my first prime credit card. I got it this month. The only thing even remotely close was a subprime Capital One card with 2k on it. I will be forever loyal to Amex for being the first prime lender to take a chance on me.

I have since gotten Citi Dividends Amex at 6k, and Chase Freedom at 10k.

You know that Amex pulls EX almost exclusively, right?

Re: AMEX Delta Gold

I applied for Delta with a 712 and got a CL of $13,800. I think it is the other way around. The only reason I got the high limit was because of the Delta and not the strict blue card. I did a product changed after about a week or two and didn't lose any points to delta skymiles, they all transferred to membership rewards.

Did you get to keep your 15,000 bonus Skymiles?

Re: AMEX Delta Gold

No, when I signed up I only got 5,000 (unless they are delayed any about of time). They were the only ones left in the Skymiles. I wasn't too worried about those. I got the card right before christmas and did all my christmas shopping with my delta card and was worried about losing those points.
