Question anyone that knows anything about Delta or Delta SkyMiles.....
Anyways I am a AMEX Delta Skymiles customer and I met the spend bonus and got the miles.. Anyways, I bought or I am buying skymiles 125k off a friend that travels each week for a good price.. Anyways, long story short we were on the site and CS and tried to transfer 120k miles vs 125 miles as transfers are in 30k increments. They were trying to charge 330 per 30k skymiles trasnfered between accounts... Meaning 1320$ they were trying to charge us for transfering 120k skymiles..... This seems so WRONG! Is there a trick or am I missing something? I can buy a round trip ticket for close to that amount overseas plus get 2x points on my AMEX delta for close to that price... The devlauation of transferring seems HORRID.. Obviously he can book the ticket for me and I can give him my CC number or cash for the ticket/tickets, but just looking for advise as only an idiot would pay this price to transfer.. Thanks in advance my Fico'ers

Sounds to me like they were trying to sell you miles not transfer them.

I agree this is crazy... 330 to transfer 30k miles.. really? Please someone else chime in on this.. Was on phone with them and the person I am getting them from and it made no sense at all..... I would rather him book a ticket or two and pay him with CC for booking ticket or cash.. This seems like they are bending me over and no lube applied.. I might be looking at it wrong, someone set me straight
Aren't you not allowed to sell skymiles?
Meh did a bit or reading... seems like the only logical thing is to just pay on my CC and get some extra miles when I book the ticket from the friend I bought the miles with vs. transfer at the outragous rate they are asking... They really think we are this dumb... Has nothing to do with AMEX, just a delta thing, but was a bit proplexed as I know alot of people here use miles or delta miles.

Ya if you can call it that lol.. .01 cents per mile plus 30$ at 30k miles... So it would of costed me 1300ish to buy 120k miles... DUMB! Will just have him book the ticket on my amex delta card for 2x points.... How dumb do they think we are, really?

I agree that it is beyond stupid to charge that much for transfering miles when you can buy them almost at that rate.
Most travel bloggers classify transferring miles to another person as one of those rookie mistakes that one should never do.
