Congrats! I've never tried for a retention offer so I may try to do the same when my AF is up
I think Amex is often reluctant to give a large retention offer on Gold since it is such a heavy points earning card with various offsets to the fee that aren't extremely difficult to use.
My company uses Amex, so there is some program where they'll give you a 100 dollar credit (for Gold) and up to 200 (for Plat) against your AF each year if your company still also uses Amex (and you have a company credit card as well). This has precluded me from asking for any retention offers. I admit, I never thought about asking for a retention offer from a credit card company if I'd really had no intention of closing it. I love the GOLD card. This is the second year I've had it and I don't see myself ever getting rid of it.
The dining credit is easy to use for me (once a month treat myself to some Grubhub? sure, though I just pick up the food so it's actually worth using).
The company credit got rid of chasing that stupid airline credit that I wish they'd just get rid of.

The Corporate Advantage Program is only available for those with employee cards on a Corporate American Express account; those with employee cards on regular business cards from American Express are not eligible.
The "stupid" airline credit is being removed after 2021 and is being replaced with an Uber/UberEats monthly credit beginning next month. I'd personally rather keep the airline credit.
