NO please don't
You may be able to revolve a balance if the Gold card has the Pay Over Time feature. This feature allows you to revolve a balance. It is not available to all cardmembers, though. And the APR can be rather high. Some folks feel that this is a trap by Amex and that you shouldn't use this option. I have this feature and I used it once - it was the Sign & Travel option and I bought last minute airline tickets and took a few months to pay them off. This was about 17 years ago and no adverse action was ever taken against me by Amex. Of course, YMMV.
I have a recently opened PRG 2 weeks old last week I received a letter that says they will allow me the pay over time feature and that the limit on the pay over time portion is 35k at 15.24% anything over I have to pay at the end of the month. The reason I bring this up is even though I have the pay over time I would never use it because in my mind what would be the point of getting a Amex charge card if that was my intention I would of just apped for a revolver plus I hear that Amex frowns upon this practice.
I have other cards that I have of could app for that the lender would care less would I do with the balance as long as it's not late.
I think if that is your intention then you should just app for a revolver. JMHO
The whole point of an AMEX charge card is to pay in full each month.
That feature that allows you to carry a balance not only comes with a relatively high APR, some purchases may NOT qualify as a revolving balance. In my opinion I'd ap for the Delta AMEX gold/platinum if you don't have the disciplin or income to pay in full each month.
