AMEX MR point double dip!

Got the offers for Best Buy and Amazon +7 MR points per dollar, up to 2000 points maximum for each offer on my AMEX EveryDay Preferred card (my Daily Driver till my AOD arrives... this card does not get anough love, the 50% point bump is great! Makes groceries 4.5 points).

Just so happens, that while I wanted him to wait on new cards I will be opening to hit welcome bonuses, P2 just HAD to buy components RIGHT NOW for a new computer.

I have an Amazon Prime Visa Siggy, and P2 has a Best Buy card. So, normally, we'd just use one of them for the purchases at 5% cash back. But with 8 MR points per dollars, couldn't refuse maximizing that!

I whipped out my calculator (well, phone), and figured out that to get the exact maximum from Amazon would be $285.72... so I picked up that exact amount in gift card, and that allowed P2 to split his amazon purchase between maximizing the Amazon AMEX points, with the overflow going to the Amazon Prime Visa... no waste! Yup, EXACTLY 2000 points showed up on my account!

Got close at 278 spend at Best Buy for 1947 points, and may cruise by to split a charge in person between the cards for a Home Depot gift card to sop up the rest.. but here's the double dip part...

I did not realize that I had ANOTHER AMEX offer active for +1 MR points on purchases up to 5k or something. So both offers were activated on this spend, making it +8 points per dollar, for a total of 9 points per dollar.

Whee!
