AMEX MR points

is there a definite guide on everything AMEX MR points that currently kept up to date? I'm slowly getting into travel and recently received a 150K for 10K spend on a gold card. i neither know if this is a good or bad offer, but it does sound like a boatload of points. I dont think i'll be cashing these points out and instead just store them for whenever i have upcoming travel. thanks!

It is a lot of points but $10K is also a lot of spend.   At worst, MRs can be used as statement credit making this worth $900 for $10K spend.  That's certainly not too bad but maybe you could  do better than that getting SUBs on two or three cards (which of course impacts your credit record) but if you can use the points well, such as transfers to partners, they could be worth $3000 which would indeed by a great offer

That's at the high end for the Gold card.

Me, I have little use for MR's.

Re: AMEX MR points

Sounds like the same offer I've been getting for the Business Gold Card.
I don't have a buisiness of my own, or a rational way to spend $10k in 90 days.🤣
It is a really good SUB if you do happen to have those though.

There's really no definitive guide that is both all-encompassing and factual.  Your best "value" will definitely come from transferring MRs to an airline for international business class travel.  (I've been getting pretty crazy 10+ cpp valja on Star Alliance business class bookings to Europe for about 63k round trip lately thanks to a combo of great transfer bonus, 35% points rebate due to having Business Platinum, and a fixed award chart.)

It all really depends on where you are, where you want to go, if you have any specific need to fly on a particular airline or alliance partner, and what class of travel you plan to use.   Even domestic economy airfare can sometimes hit 2+ cpp under the right circumstances.   Hotels can be hit or miss with value.  It really depends on the property, dates, and points value.  Cashing out for statement credit is only 0.6 cpp and checkout through some major retailers such as Amazon are 0.7 cpp, so those are generally considered bad redemption values unless you truly don't travel and would not otherwise use them.

Same here...I just don't spend enough on credit cards to be able to do that in only 90 days even if I use common core math.

Re: AMEX MR points

That's a bunch of points, but if you have to hit $10k in 90 days.....holy cow. I got a personal offer for 90k MR on $4k spend in 90 days, which I took advantage of. My wife then got the same offer. We'll be using those MR for first class Delta tickets to Toronto to see Taylor Swift next November.🤣 Before we pay another fee on the Gold card, we'll do a product change as I don't see us really using the MR beyond that planned trip.

Yeah, the Business cards require a lot more spend to get the high SUB than the Personal cards do.
