I wouldn't worry too much about what's printed on the card.  It's the online MSD and the open date reported to the CRA's that really matter.

^^ this^^

why would I care what is printed on my card as long as online and CRA has it right?

Re: AMEX MSD question

I recently received both cards last week. One saying 2015 and the other 1996. I received both of them on the same day. At first I had to tell them what year my card was. The first rep messed it up. They i chatted to to more reps and they backdated to 1996. Be persistent and you'll know its backdated when you log onto your account and it says 97. Mine was updated in the morning.

Re: AMEX MSD question

If done right a couple of hours online and an email informing you of a replacement card.

Re: AMEX MSD question

I did get the email of replacement card being shipped out this morning and OnlineAmex Login also shows backdated MSD. The problem is with ED Login account as it still shows 2015. Through chat,CSR said I have to wait until I recieve the actual card and activate it to see that. Now I am not sure if she was misinformed on this or in fact activation will trigger the backdating.

I like the fact that it's printed on my card. I pull it out of my wallet several times a day just to look at Member Since 80.

Discover card also has "member since" printed on the card.

Yeah, but it's on the back and says 2014.

Re: AMEX MSD question

I was going to start another thread on this but to avoid a bunch of recent AMEX MSD threads, I thought I'd try replying to this one first.

Ok, so as I noted in this thread already, I was able to get my new Delta Gold backdated to 1996 when I was added as an AU to an AMEX PRG.  However, on a couple of reports, I see that my oldest credit line actually backdates to 1982 which was when the actual PRG account was opened.

Do any of you who know about backdating think that I could possibly get them to backdate my account to 1982 based on this?  I am totally fine with the '96 backdate, but if I could have two 33-year old accounts, that would be way beyond awesome.

Re: AMEX MSD question

Asking them does not hurt, worse can happen is a no. I have always heard that AU can be backdated to first inception of AU on the primary card holders account. I would give it a shot knowing that benefit is much higher than cast.
