Re: AMEX Member Since 2014?

And continuing the future mode, I just received an email from Amex that my new card "was shipped" Jan 2, 2014.

Re: AMEX Member Since 2014?

On a side note, I applied for an AMEX JetBlue card and was approved with a 10,000 CL. I downloaded the AMEX app on my phone after receiving an email to set up online access to my account before I received my card. I applied on Dec. 26 and it also said member since 2014. After two days however, it said member since 1995. I had an AMEX Optima card back then that went to CA and has been closed since around 1999. I haven't received the new card yet, but I'm curious to see if they put "Member since '95" on it.

Add me to the list.... Approved back in NOV naturally I'm MSD 2013 everywhere. Added my DH as AU  to my BCE in beginning of Dec and He's also 2013. Just added my Mother right after X-mas she got the card Saturday (had it Overnighted) and Her MSD is 2014.

Didn't think too much of it since it's just a AU card, and everything will reflect based on primary account info

This is not accurate.  Each cc has its own account information and just because the primary MSD shows 2013 it does NOT make the ACMs MSD 2013.

Wait...really? You mean if I add an AU to my AMEX now, they don't get the MSD of 2013?..

If the account is set up in 2013, they would get 2013. Since it is now 2014, their MSD will be 2014. ACMs do not inherit your MSD

Not to be rude or anything, But why does it matter?

It matters if they report the opening date as 2014 on CR's and if they have it in their system internally as 2014.

Exactly, as these accounts are/were technically opened during the 2013 calendar year (even if it's the last month), not officially 2014 yet.

+1 on the these other responses.

In the grand scheme of things for today, it may not appear to mean very much.  But, when one is planning for the future and including future AMEX products in one's credit portfolio, it can mean a LOT!  Ten years from now, if the OP wants to apply for a new AMEX product, that difference in date can be important in the backdating of new product.  Can one year make a difference? Yes, it can, depending on the rest of the mix, for AAofA.

This happened to me as well, Dec 29 approval w/2014 MSD when BCE arrived. It took 2 calls to have it changed to '13 fyi, but happy with the outcome!
