AMEX OASIS OPTIMA ANNUAL FEE!

I just got my e statememt  & in the specail nocices portion thay say they will begin charging an annual fee of $49. I already have Blue cash and I'm contemplating closing the optima but I'm worried my availabale credit will drop significantly.  Anyone else in the OASIS program get such a notice or was it just me. I've never been late on the card.. I only use it for my monthly gym membership. Maybe I'm not using it enough?

Re: AMEX OASIS OPTIMA ANNUAL FEE!

I dont remember. I think they charged me AF of $39 when I got my card last December. When the renewal time comes, I am going to close the card. They with Oasis card we are not eligible for other cards. I am going to let it go when the time comes for renewal.

Re: AMEX OASIS OPTIMA ANNUAL FEE!

I received the same message. I believe it said the fee would appear on May 1.

For me, regaining 7 years of account age with the Optima makes paying that $49 worth it. Now, if they'd just start reporting it, I'd be happy. Smiley Wink

Takunda1, how long have you had the Optima, and how long after receiving it did you apply for the Blue Cash?

Ihave had the optima card for 11 months now. I applied for the Blue Cash after  3months of getting the OPTIMA. I was approved for 2k.

Re: AMEX OASIS OPTIMA ANNUAL FEE!

I think Amex changed the policy recently. If you have an active Optima Oasis account they are not giving any more new cards. I have no idea as to what is the exit policy from Oasis program.

Re: AMEX OASIS OPTIMA ANNUAL FEE!

As far as I know even if you close the Amex Oasis card it will remain on your Credit Report for next 10 years. Only time you have to worry about it is after 10 years. Probably other fico experts on forum can answer this question better than me. I personally would close that account after 12 months if they wont give me a regualar card. I am not paying AF for any card for any reason unless there are some rewards associated with the AF.

Re: AMEX OASIS OPTIMA ANNUAL FEE!

I was wrong about the amount and date. My statement cut today, and included the following:

04/06/2008 MEMBERSHIP FEE 35.00

Has anyone been billed a different AF amount?
