Anyone have any luck with getting a regular card after optima? I recently apped after having the card 12 months and the denial reason was that I have an active recovery product.. No one at Amex can give me a straight answer with how to proceed. How does your credit profile look otherwise?
Maybe you apped just a LITTLE too soon? How long after hitting your 1 year mark did you apply?
I applied for another AMEX 13 months after I had the Optima, and yes, I was instantly approved. Not only that, but I also requested, and was given a 3x's cli on my Optima.
Was your CLI a HP or SP?

SP
Good to hear it was a SP and they did a 3x CLI. This points to the fact that Amex is making the Optima Card less and less of a "step child" card.
Hopefully they will allow for APR reduction, product change, and entry into membership rewards in the near future.
Repairman my friend,
You have 3 threads going in 2 forums all about the same subject (Oasis) ....
no no no no ....Lol
This time I won't have them merged as everyone would be completely lost ![]()
However in the future 1 thread, 1 forum and all questions on same subject would save time space and be more helpful for you to see all answers in one spot

They all are in reference to an AMEX Optima card, but they are all not on the same subject, which is why I posted them on different forums, under dfferent posts, since each one pertains to different questions. They were also posted at different times, as different questions pop up as the days progress.
Sorry, didn't realize I was doing something wrong.

We have no problem with asking mulitple question in same thread no matter when they come to thought and the thread can run for weeks if you get that much feed back
Not a problem
So if you have 6 thoughts tomorrow .....no no no add them to one thread
No more threads on same subject ....Sorry

Again, didn't realize you consider an APR reduction, applying for a new card, and cli the same subject, as they are not. But note taken.

Wow this is very dishartening. I was told that I could apply for a new card without closing my Optima. I don't ever want to close mine because it is one of my oldest cards. The only one that I have that's older is retail( JCP). Hoping you just got bad info dozzer99. Did you try calling back to talk to someone else?

@Anonymous can apply for another card product after 12 full months without having to close the Optima Card. I think @dozzer99 applied just shy 12 full month and thats why he got the message or he could have applied before Amex changed their policy.
