I understand the offer for an Optima Card usually comes BEFORE the account is settled. The offer says if you pay the balance in full you will be allowed an application for the Optima Card.
My situation is a little different. I have already settled the account for less than the full balance.
Today I called AMEX and asked- If I pay the balance off (the difference between the settled amount and the full amount) may I still be eligible for an Optima offer?
The representative told me No, I am not eligible.
Does anyone have any experience getting an Optima offer once you've ALREADY settled the account?
I would really love to be in AMEX's good graces once again.
Contract the Global Collections Department and see what they say.
Once you get blacklisted from AMEX, it take about 10 years.........

Unless you pay them.
The 10 years depends on how much you burned them. Some cases might be less and others might be alot more.
