Hi guys,
So I checked card match today and it came back with some preapproved offers from Amex.
i went on Amex website and used there prequalify site and it came back with about 4 offers....the delta gold, delta blue, and a couple of Hilton honors cards. I'd love to get my foot in the door with Amex as I'm relatively new on this credit journey, my experian fico is 746 right now and I only have about 10 months of credit history with 9 percent utilization. Some of the cards I got aren't very good. Credit one visa with 400 limit and an amazon prime store card for 1500 and a Capone platinum 300.
i was just approved for a Turkish airlines miles and smiles card for 10 grand Al. That hasnt reported yet but when it does it might take me out of range for being approved with Amex for short credit history. Is it a good idea to get in the door with them now or wait
Do you want one of their cards because it will suit your spending needs, or are you just wanting another card because you think it will build you better credit, faster?
If you really want an Amex and aren't committed to a particular product, start with the lowest one and work up so you don't lose out on sign up bonuses in the future. Higher limit cards could help your score since all your limits are pretty low. But opening many new cards in a short amount of time will decrease your score for some time.
Yep, understood all of this. I applied with a soft pull and was denied. Strange as I used the Preapproval tool again and it said I was preapproved but then denied, reasons were young file, not thin, just young. It's all good though, I'll get in with them when the time is right.

I think you're good to go on your application. When you pick up a new card, I think you should drop the Credit One account.
I have a Hilton card, find it to be pretty good.
If you prefer cash back, I would suggest the Blue Cash Everyday. Even though you're not preapproved, I think you would get approved for the card.
Update Oops I guess I was wrong. In any event, wait a couple of months and try for the card you would actually like most to have.
