No credit card required
Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
I have a American Express card and 0% introductory rate is running out in November. Owe 5k, long story short work has been slow. I've put all cards away until this is payed to 0.
looking forward Balance transfer card so I can pay this off. Never done a balance transfer, I heard Citi Custom Cash Card was good?
i don't have a Chase card and Heard- they have a 5/24 rule so should I see if chase has one being I have 4 CC?
any help would be appreciated!
BTW - My Fico 8 Score is 708/709....
No late payments, 4 inquiries
Thank you for the help!!
Also if I get approved does the Amex card I balance transfer from does that stay open and usable once I get my balance to 0 from the new card? It has a 30k limit so I know not to close it as it helps my utilization rate.
There are several BT cards out there. The issue with trying to get an approval for a new card for the purposes of BT is that I think more often than not, an approval, if one is granted, is far too often it comes with a starting limit lower than what someone might need. Ideally, in your case you'd want an approval for $10k. Citi is well known to be stingy with SLs for first time card holders, as are others like Chase depending on your profile.
What's your utilization, individual, aggregate, etc... this might help get you some better suggestions on mainstream lenders and Credit Unions to look at etc... Hopefully, you have a backup plan if you don't get the approval you're counting on.
My first thought is a Discover card... they generally come with a balance transfer offer for 12 or 18 months.
...and yes, after you open a new account and transfer the balance away from American Express, the account will stay open providing that you USE it once in a while.
Bank of America has an 18 month offer right now. Wells Fargo has a 21 month offer right now.
Personally, I would avoid Citi as mentioned above. You'll get an approval, but not for the credit line that you're seeking.
Good luck!

IMHO the best balance transfer cards are credit union, non-rewards, platinum cards with no balance transfer fee.
Total availability throughout my cards is as follows:
52,500 available
7,624 owe
14.5% utilization
no late payments
4 inquiries
My main objective is to continue to make payments as much as I can . Then do a balance transfer.
is Wells Fargo a good option? Fico May go up ... what score is needed?
on a balance transfer card do you tell them how much you want to apply for ? Or your balance transfer amount.
Ditto @SouthJamaica
0% apr with a 5% transfer fee isn't 0%!
Any help would be appreciated 💯
There are cards out there that have $5 min BT fee or 3% whichever is higher but 5% BT fee is robbery. CU's are a good choice and usually don't have a BT fee.
