Just called to have it cancelled because Annual Fee is due soon, Membership Consulting dept offered 50K miles or 450$ statement credit to keep it open... 
I took 50k miles.. BAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!

                   My own expense is around 40K (10k work travel reimbursable) and then I have two Gold AUs which run 10-12K on their.. so total for this year so far is 68K.

There's a big thread on FlyerTalk on rentention bonuses across all Amex cards, not just charge. 

I think everyone should give it a shot at least. Something is better than nothing.

I could easily get 650$ worth of use (on an average day) or close to 800$ (on a good transfer bonus day) worth of use with 50K miles.

Just for giggles, last year I called twice for my zync card... They didn't offer me anything and also called my bluff haha.  I'm going to close it soon though.  They won't honor the sign up bonus for another charge card if you have had charge card within the last three months

So they knew you called multiple times? It took me 4 calls one after than another to get what I wanted.
