Hi Everyone!
I am now getting pre-qualified online for the BCE and ED cards at 17.74% APR. I am still waiting until I get a CLI with Cap1 before apping for Platinum and then BCE (2 months from now); however, I still would like to know how solid these pre-quals are.
Here are my stats, if anyone has similar advice or experiences please share!:
AAoA: 6 mo, oldest account 11 mo and newest 4 mo
CL: $1,300 + $3,500 (AU) = $4,800
Utlization: 1%
Let me know! Thanks!
Seems that recently those are very solid pre-quals ... I was approved two weeks ago for a BCE with a $2K SL and that same exact APR.
Given your current numbers, I'd go for it
They're not 100% I got denied once with RSVP code and once online pre qualification until my approval. They do not like many recent inquiries that's for sure! Give it a shot!
AMEX prequals are pretty solid especially if they give specific APRs to go along with their offers. As always there's always that chance for a denial but odds look for you.
Historically, I believe the Amex prequalify has been very reliable, however I was just denied this morning. I was also prequalified for the BCE and ED cards, and had a fixed rate.
My history is that I had a chargeoff with Amex about 9 years ago. I have never had anything show up on their prequal, and when I've applied have always been declined without a HP. A couple of weeks ago i started seeing prequal for those two cards and this morning I pulled the trigger. Delinced, due to previous relationship. So, I'm still not off their BL.
For me at least, the prequals almost seem like a glitch in the system. In the past, it seems their system recognized I was on the BL and never showed anything. I was very surprised when something actually showed up, but it looks like it was just a change in their system rather than actually coming off the BL.
So, if you have negative history with Amex I would be a little wary about the prequal. If you don't have anything like that, it's probably still pretty reliable.
I would say they are fairly solid, especially for profiles without negatives. I had a gotten a similar prequal for the BCE at 17.49% . I also had a fairly thin file, with AAoA 8 months, oldest account 12 months, with a total of 3500 in CL across 2 cards. I ended up getting an instant approval with a 10k SL, on a 30k salary. I would say you can go for it.
My wife and I were just discharged in Aug 2016 and we burned amex in BK for a good amount. In Feb 2017 their pre-qual showed my wife approved for the blue cash card. I was like no way so I had to apply to see. App was sent to further processing and then denied. I recon'd and it took 4 weeks to come back with an answer that was NO lol...
last year it showed one for me applyed and got instant approval, was shocked honestly
