AMEX Pre-Screened Offer; Question

Yesterday my girlfriend received a prescreened offer for the AMEX Blue Sky card, 0% for 15 months, and then 17.24% after that I believe.

WELL, today (lol) she received an offer for the AMEX BCE card, 0% for 15 months, and then 12.99% after that.

She app'd last night for the Blue Sky and got approved for $3,000. She doesn't need to app for the BCE because she doesn't necessarily need it, but is there anyway they will match the 12.99% offered for the BCE card to her Blue Sky card?

And also, what is this 60 day CLI stuff I see on here with AMEX?

Thanks all!

Re the APR match, doubtful.  Different cards have different APRs to offset the rewards that they are offering.  I've read of people getting Amex to reduce their APRs, even reducing them below the published rate for the card (reportedly), but in general that was because the person asked for a lower rate, argued they were a good customer, etc.  Not because Amex offers a better rate on a different product.  I doubt you'd be able to get them to reduce the APR until you've at least held the card for a while.  But it never hurts to ask.

The 61 day CLI that is discussed refers to Amex's policy for credit line increases.  New cards are not eligible for a CLI in the first 60 days, so you have to wait until day 61 (I believe from activation) until you can request your first CLI.  Amex generally will approve requests through the automated system up to 3x current CL.  So she could ask for an increase to $9000 on day 61.  No guarantees they will approve that.  They will sometimes, but not always, counter with a lower CLI if you request the full 3x and are not eligible for that.  Lots of people advise to request the full 3x because of this.  However, some people are declined without receiving a counteroffer.  No way to know if htey had requested less whether it would still have been a decline or not.

After the first CLI, you have to wait 6 months until your next request.  That's 6 months across all of your accounts, not per card.

There are better travel cards out there, but BCE/BCP is definately one of the best grocery cards if not the best, and everyone has to eat Smiley Tongue

Although if your doing all your shopping at places like CostCo, and Super Walmart etc I would say keep the Blue Sky. If you spend atleast 110 a week on a standalone grocery store and don't fly much it's a no brainer bce all the way. If she wants a travel card get a Starwood Amex imo
